Time Zone Converter

A time zone converter takes a date and time in one place and shows the equivalent local time everywhere else. Pick your cities, set the moment, and every result below accounts for daylight saving on that exact date — past, present or future.

Moves the time in 15-minute steps. Fully keyboard operable.

    How the conversion works

You enter a local time in the "From" place. WorldTimeWise resolves that wall-clock time to an exact UTC instant using the IANA time zone database, then renders the instant back into each target's local time. The UTC offset, abbreviation and daylight-saving flag shown are the ones in force on your chosen date — not today's.

Two edge cases get explicit treatment instead of silent guesses: times skipped by the spring-forward gap are flagged with the nearest valid time, and times repeated by the fall-back overlap show both interpretations for you to choose between.

    Frequently asked questions

How do I convert CST to EST?

Central and Eastern time are one hour apart. When Chicago is on CST (UTC-6) and New York is on EST (UTC-5), noon in Chicago is 1:00 PM in New York. In summer both zones shift forward an hour (CDT and EDT), so the one-hour gap stays exactly the same. Type both cities into the converter above and it does the math for any date.

What is the time difference between UTC and EST?

Eastern Standard Time is 5 hours behind UTC, so 12:00 noon UTC is 7:00 AM EST. From March to November most of the Eastern zone observes EDT instead, which is 4 hours behind UTC. The converter above applies the right offset for the date you pick.

Does this converter handle daylight saving time?

Yes. Every conversion uses the IANA time zone database — the same source operating systems use — so DST rules for the exact date you enter are applied automatically, including historical dates and dates years in the future.

What if I pick a time that does not exist, like 2:30 AM on spring-forward day?

The converter will not silently shift your time. It tells you the time never occurred (for example, clocks in New York jump from 2:00 to 3:00 AM on March 8, 2026) and offers the nearest valid time instead.

What happens during the "fall back" when a local time occurs twice?

When clocks turn back, times like 1:30 AM happen twice — once in daylight time, once in standard time. The converter shows both interpretations and lets you choose which one you mean.

Can I share a conversion with someone?

Yes. Use the "Copy link" button and the converter state — locations, date and time — is encoded in the URL. Anyone opening the link sees exactly the same conversion.
